She was born with a condition known as Down syndrome. She became popular when her parents sued the school that she was attending (Gwinnett County school) over their decision to transfer her to a special school. According to her parents, that move was discriminatory to their daughter. They insisted that the school should allow her to study normally just like other students but the school refusal forced them to take the matter to court. After a long battle in court, the jury ruled against her, saying that Sarah needed a special school to have a smooth learning experience. Her parents did not appeal the ruling. Instead, they opt for private schooling for their daughter. Today, Sarah has become an inspiration and role model to many because of her strength and positive attitude towards life despite many challenges that she has gone through.
