Cass Elliot was born on September 19, 1941 (age 32) in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. She is a Celebrity Folk Singer. Cass Elliot, popularly known as Mama Cass, was an American actress and singer who was born Ellen Naomi Cohen. She was most recognized for being a member of the Mamas & Papas group. She was born in Maryland and began singing and performing in high school before moving to New York in the early 1960s. After graduating from high school, she began her career as a theatrical actor before deciding to pursue a career as a singer. Elliot created the music trio Big Three with members James Hendricks and Tim Rose during the folk music craze that was sweeping the country at the time. In the mid-1960s, Elliot joined forces with Michelle and John Phillips to form the Mamas & the Papas. "Words of Love," "California Dreamin," and "Monday, Monday" were all significant singles for this trio. She went on to create five solo albums after the trio disbanded. She was also a part-time actress who appeared in a number of little and big-screen productions, including 'Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery.' In her lifetime, the actress and singer was married twice and had one daughter. She died of a heart attack on July 29, 1974, at the age of 32.
